Who We Are

World Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES) is a tax-exempt multidisciplinary academic society in the USA. The organization, also known as WAVES, International, is a forum for all scholarly activities and views on any area of ‘Vedic Studies’ variously called Indian Studies, South Asian Studies, or Indology. WAVES is not confined to studies related to Vedas alone or India alone. It encompasses all that applies to Vedic traditions of the past, present, and future, anywhere in the world.

Vision & Mission

The Society, for furtherance of its aims and objectives, will undertake to do the following :

To organize activities, such as conferences, discussion groups, workshops, lectures, camps, concerts, performances.
To sponsor, promote, establish, develop, control, supervise, support, encourage and run institutions (such as centers, schools, reference libraries).
To publish journals, monographs, periodicals, books, magazines, papers, etc.
To disseminate in all possible ways knowledge and findings on Vedic and ancient Indian traditions.

The diverse range of scholars who presented, attended, and participated in the WAVES 2024 Conference was impressive. What was unique about this conference was the great number of scholarly youth presentations. It was heartening to observe high school and college students not only in the audience, but also at the podium articulating their own research. WAVES is not confined to study related to Vedas alone or to India alone. It encompasses all that applies to traditions commonly called Vedic, past, present and future, anywhere in the world.

It is universally acknowledged that Vedas are among the oldest existing records of human thoughts. Vedic traditions have continued without interruption for many millennium of years and remain a living and formative source of Hindu culture and tradition.
